When Gillespies Ruled the World: Dwayne Clemons Quintet at George’s Museum of Art and Origins, Saturday, May 21, 2016

Coincidental to the eve of my 63rd birthday, George Nelson Preston had one of his Uptown Saturday Nights and I couldn’t have had a better celebration. Dwayne’s blues tempered bop with Josh Benko, alto sax, Sacha Perry on piano, Murray Wall on bass and Scott Lowrie on drums blew us all back to the Sugar Hill of the dreamtime.  Thanks to the beautiful Camilla Huey, who turned it into a party for me, and all my dear friends who braved weekend subway service to attend.  I love you madly.
